Kristy Acland
My name is Kristy Acland I’m 31 years old married with two beautiful daughters and proudly the centre manager of Ashtonfield Kindy Patch.
My hobbies are going to the movies and having backyard BBQ’s with my family.
I’m kind, caring and understanding all of these qualities help me in my job.
I completed my Diploma over ten years ago and worked casually at various childcare centres around Maitland and Newcastle, I then stopped to stay home with my children until my eldest started school.
I applied for a position as group leader in the toddler room job sharing three days a week, I loved being apart of watching these young children grow and develop it gave me a sense of pride and achievement, after spending two years in that position I moved up to the preschool room 4 days a week I found this to be so rewarding watching the children prepare to go off to school, during this time a took on the role of 2IC and enjoyed the new challenging role.
After working in the room for 6 months I took over the director’s position.
One of my greatest achievements since taking over this role is passing the accreditation process as a new director. I’m very proud of the relationship I have built with my staff, families and the children and find this job to be highly rewarding and fulfilling.
Working in this industry changes from day to day and no matter how you are feeling walking into work and greeted by a big warm hug or smile from one of the children or when a parent thanks you for being apart of their family and making a difference in their child’s life it makes your whole day change you can’t help and smile in this place.
The most rewarding part of the job is watching the children become independent and creating new and exciting adventures.
